Angus & Barbara Jolly, Crosby

A warm and inviting kitchen designed for fine dining, entertaining… and the occasional canine companion!

We’re delighted to share a view inside the home of our clients, Angus and Barbara Jolly, to reveal the inspiration behind their extraordinary space(s) created by HAUS.

“The design process was nice because I had very fixed ideas about what I wanted… and my husband had completely different ideas!”

When you embark on a substantial overhaul in your home, it’s a journey that’s best taken with good guides. You might start out with an idea of where you want to end up, but you’ll probably need a little nudge in the right direction. Along the way, you’ll undoubtedly find yourself in need of a number of diverse skills that may not be part of your own personal toolkit.

The Jolly’s journey began in 2019 when they bought their new home. Although the previous kitchen was perfectly acceptable, it wasn’t entirely to their taste.

So, with plans to breathe new life into the heart of their new home, we met with the couple to discuss concepts and grand designs that would not only transform their kitchen, but also an adjoining utility room, downstairs WC, and family bathroom.

Barbara explained why HAUS were the team for the job:

“HAUS are a kitchen supplier but they’re project managers as well. Tiling, plumbing, the electrics… they’ll do anything and everything that needs doing to get the job done.”
“They came in and it was like the army coming in to do a job. It was absolutely amazing!”

As proud owners of four pedigree-breed dogs, the Jollys wanted a space that was tailored as much for their canine pals as it was for them. The previous terracotta tiling would show up sweaty paw prints, so a sublime rustic-style tile was chosen, patterned out, and fitted throughout the downstairs WC, utility room and kitchen within the space of just six working days.

With flooring in place, it was out with the old and in with the new for the kitchen space. Whilst work was carried out, we constructed a temporary kitchen area in the utility room to keep the build as nonintrusive as possible for the Jollys.

Their new kitchen is contemporary, organic and entirely bespoke, featuring premium German-made LEICHT furnishings resplendent in arctic white with bold natural wood accents, illuminated with LED lighting to enhance the warm ambience of the space. A wall of open shelving, smooth handleless cabinets, multi-function ovens and integrated refrigerators dominates the back wall of the kitchen, while a large island takes centre stage, designed to face the dining area for uninterrupted entertaining whilst cooking. Additionally, worktops are raised slightly throughout the kitchen to be more accessible.

One of Barbara’s favourite features? The Miele induction hob with integrated extractor fan, freeing the ceiling above from bulky ventilation units.

To maintain stylistic flow throughout the heart of their home, the white and wood look is reflected in the utility room, featuring plenty of extra storage and clever space-saving solutions — plus a fridge just for the dogs!

A big thank you to Angus and Barbara Jolly for allowing us to show off their incredible new spaces. It was a joy to bring your vision to life.
